So it seems that I am not very good at this blog thing.. I guess working on the computer all day doesn't exactly make it easy for me to sit down and journal on the computer. Plus it's easier to just put it on Facebook right? Well, I promise to keep trying! I have pictures to add. My little Dark Brahma from back in April is HUGE and laying. She's my favorite but don't tell the others ;)

Such a slacker..
I feel like such a slacker!
I haven't posted in SO LONG! I've had more chicks come and go.. I have several Light Brahma's left that are now 7 weeks old. Beautiful sweet birds they are.. Also, I have a BLRW roo and Maran Roo that need homes.
I only kept 2 of these babies and the rest were sold. I have more ready to hatch in 2 and 3 weeks. Fingers crossed!
I had a bad experience with shipping and lost 23 eggs that just didn't develop. Very bummed about that $30 down the tubes :(
I got some replacements for another bad hatch at a very cheap rate. Might do the same for those I lost last time but I have to pay shipping which is another $15 and no sure thing they will hatch. Risky business for special babies..

I had a batch of black/blue lav split Ameracauna's hatch 2 weeks ago too.

Nearly 2 weeks?
It seems that due to my bad blogging habits, nearly two weeks has gone by since these guys hatched. I promise to get much better pictures tomorrow but here is one to give you an idea of how fast they have grown :)
Those Brahma's are NO JOKE!! They are HUGE and growing like weeds.. I really hope people buy them soon or I am going to be stuck with a huge feed bill! ;)
A tough week
What a tough week this has been. I had to put down our black chick Lawless. She developed trouble walking a few weeks ago and it got progressively worse. It was the only humane thing to do. :(
I ended up with 19 babies from the previous hatch. 1 Wheaten Maran, 1 Dark Brahma (named Crush.. but that's another story), 5 Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes and 12 Lt. Brahmas. Also 2 of the 3 eggs I gave to Jenn's broody Gesine hatched (Maran and Lt Brahma). Overall, not a bad hatch for shipped eggs.
May 2nd I set those LOVELY EE and D'uccle eggs you see below. I started with 41 and weeded out 13 so far that either quit or weren't developing.
May 10th I set 20 more pure-bred Americauna eggs. 15 LF (large Fowl) and 5 Banties (bantam or miniature chickens). These have a chance to be either black, blue or LAVENDER!!! I SOOO want lavender babies I cannot even explain to you however it is a very very small chance that any of these might be Lavs. The lady just took the Lav roo out of the pen and put in this beautiful blue roo. Birds can retain sperm for several weeks to use as needed so there is a chance the Lav could be "in business" even when he isn't there.. LOL
Well.. here are some baby pictures from the last hatch, now almost 2 weeks old.. I know I know.. bad blogger.. ;)

What a day!
Well, I went to bed around 12:45 this morning with 7 pips. Around 3:45 the local police department called looking for my husband because someone had tried to break in to the restaurant he works in and he's on the emergency call list AND... I had a baby out!! 10 minutes later... ANOTHER!.
AND..
My eggs that I bought the other day arrived and they are BEAUTIFUL!!
We worked on the coop ALL day so I didn't have much time to keep checking but as of 10:00 tonight we have 10 light Brahma babies :)

Tired of waiting...
I have been sitting next to the bator waiting for these little fuzz butts to get into the world AND... nothin!
There are now 4 pips but no zipping (breaking around in a circle to get out) and most importantly NO FRIGGIN CHICKS...
I need to sleep tonight... oh well..
